The Hotel Cafe Tour is rolling into town this Wednesday at the Wonder Ballroom, and I'll be interviewing two of the featured artists this Friday night on Short Memory.
Both William Fitzsimmons and Jesca Hoop have been steadily gaining respectable reputations for the way they, along with the handful of musicians that they are touring with, are radically redefining the singer/songwriter genre. Both in their own ways, their music brings a kind of depth, honesty, and creativity that has been breathing new life into the genre. Individually, they've been featured on interviews all over the web, and even on NPR a few times. For this tour, they will be sharing the bill for the first time, along with other artists like Ingrid Michaelson, Cary Brothers, Jim Bianco and Meiko.
I feel really lucky to have them on my show. They've gained my complete respect as artists, thinkers, and humans. I'll be interviewing William Fitzsimmons at the top of the hour, and Jesca Hoop at half-past. I'll also play their music and a few other tunes from a couple of the other artists they are touring with.
So, tune in, eh.
