Terry and I went to many of Springteen concerts, so I'd like to dedicate the song she chose for her wedding. I know her marriage didn't last long but I think Terry was at her happiest as a newlywed. So please play "If I should fall behind" in memory of Terry...

That was the most amazing tribute. You've captured Terry's spirit and had me crying like a baby. Loved the clips from Batman it was so Terry. I've never experienced anything like it. Thank You so much....

WOW!! That was great!! That was Terry!! I have known Terry since 1979 and we had some crazy times... the stories I could tell all of you would have you crying with laughter. I will miss her so much. I didn't do the motorcycle thing but I let my kids ride with her.. I never worried. Well, she died doing what she loved to do. I know she is watching over all of us. Just remember that if you barely miss having a accident it was Terry who saved you.. that is just how she was!! She is our Guardian Angel now. Thank you so much for the show.. you did good : ) Terry, I love and miss you!!

I meant to do this earlier, and just didn't get around to it....a few items about the selections....
All of the Batman/Batgirl stuff was because Terry's biker name was Batgirl. She always loved the Batman/Batgirl stuff, and even had a story about when she ...
hang on, everybody, just as I am typing this, at 8:48 p.m., one of our DJs is playing the Batman theme on her show - "Songs the Lord Taught Us" - she just started it as I was typing about how Terry loved Batman...is that absolutely auspicious or what???!!!!! I just called the DJ and she said that this version of the theme was being performed by the Markettes - we totally agreed it was a 'sign'!
Anyway, Terry had a story about when she was little, there was a little boy on her block who had the Batman car...she ended up stealing it from him and joyriding around the neighborhood. :)
A big thanks go to the folks who gave me information about their experiences with Terry and music and movies - Caron, for emailing a list of Terry's CD collection, which provided the backbone of this tribute; Theresa, Terry's high school friend who (when I tracked her down) told me about the two of them going to see Spaceballs in high school; Pat, her friend who remembered the Springsteen song from Terry's wedding; Doris, who went to see Walk the Line with Terry....

A few other explanations - do I even need to EXPLAIN Bruce or Elvis??!! :)
There's a driving/travelling theme here - Terry loved to go places, when I first met her she had this tricked-out white Camaro with blue racing stripes. I don't even think she'd ever been on a motorcycle at that point.
4) Born to Run - Bruce Springsteen - I knew this was the first song I wanted to play as soon as I got the idea to do this.
5) Rumble Seat - John Mellencamp - this CD listed in Terry's collection.
6) Southland In the Springtime - Indigo Girls - Terry and I went to see the Indigo Girls together in 1989 or '90. She said she really liked this song, the lyric "boiled peanuts" reminded her of her friend Theresa, who'd lived in the South and talked about boiled peanuts.
7) Jimmy Stewart quote from the movie Harvey the Rabbit - a personal favorite of Terry's.
10) I Drove All Night - Roy Orbison - from Terry's collection - another driving song
11) You Can Sleep While I Drive - Melissa Etheridge - same as above
12) If I Should Fall Behind - Bruce Springsteen - from Terry's wedding
13) Wrong Side of Memphis - Trisha Yearwood - another driving song, Terry's CD collection
16) Jackson - Johnny Cash & June Carter (from Live From Folsom Prison)- this song was also used in Walk the Line, but it seemed more fitting to use the original.
17) "Bring it on home" clip from the movie Walk the Line
18) Wreck On the Highway - Bruce Springsteen
Bridget was cleaning out Terry's apartment and came across something Terry had written about the song Wreck on the Highway. Bridget emailed me and said:
"While I was there, I ran across some things that Terry had written. Just little things here and there. One of them was about a Bruce Springsteen song, Wreck on the Highway. Along with the lyrics to the song, she had written a short paragraph about it. She described what the song was about, and I think it had really resonated with her. At the end, she wrote of how we only have a limited amount of time to live our lives, and how important it is to take advantage of what time we have. I'm sure she must have written this since her first accident three years ago. I don't remember the exact wording, but it epitomized to me the way Terry lived her life."
I would never have included this song, but when Bridget wrote that, I remembered a conversation Terry and I had had. Turns out that I use that song in a lecture I do every spring, so I was familiar with it and I told her the history of the song. And when I ran across that clip from Walk the Line, it just seemed to fall into place. The clip is the character of Sam Phillips talking to Johnny Cash in the studio.
23) Two More Bottles of Wine - Emmylou Harris - from Terry's CD collection.
24) O Mary Don't You Weep - Bruce Springsteen (from the Seeger Sessions)
25) "To the Batmobile" - clip from the Batman TV show
26) Further On Up The Road - Bruce Springsteen - I chose this one especially because a number of the riders mentioned riding with Terry one day on the other side.
27) "May the Schwartz Be With You....!" from the movie Spaceballs
28) Thunder Road - Bruce Springsteen
I actually didn't plan on Thunder Road, it turned out I had a little time left, and thought it the right choice.
thanks to everyone who contributed, indirectly or directly.
that's still too damn weird about the Batman theme!

What a great playlist!
I got to know Terry as we traveled to the Women On Wheels Ride-In in July 2004. It's amazing how much we crammed into our time together. Upon reflection, I thought I'd known her longer but I find it hard to believe it was only two years. After that trip to West Virginia, she and I went to the Virago Owners Group Reunion. Every trip with her was an adventure. I was so glad she got to experience the fun and fellowship of the Motor Maids who welcomed her with open arms. Canada was a blast this summer. The return trip was my last ride with her and unfortunately, the last time I saw her.
She wanted nothing more than to ride and teach others how to ride safely. It became her passion and her life. The music here captures her spirit quite well.
