Jungle // Wonder Ballroom 4/5

Jungle are one of those bands sent from another planet (Shepherd’s Bush, London) to reinvigorate your dull days and make every moment of your routine a disco. They managed to sell out Wonder Ballroom for a second time without the help of any new releases. We were blessed Jungle’s debut album four years ago and has not released any singles since. This is rare these days as artists are under significant pressure to be creating constantly to stay relevant in our current relentless consumer culture. To sell out a venue with relatively little presence and no new releases is quite a feat.
Their ability to draw a crowd is a testament to their incredible live show. Jungle was the first band I saw when I moved to Portland four years ago and still one of my favorite memories. The energy they bring is infectious and it’s impossible not to dance. Attending a Jungle show is like a particularly successful workout, a charming first date and a refreshing swim in the summer all wrapped into one. You leave feeling energized and at peace, revitalized and confident. Their shows aren’t for the faint of heart however, as it’s impossible not to dance like you never have before. The show Thursday April 5th is sold out but I strongly encourage finding tickets BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY (please don’t do anything illegal, I won’t be held responsible). Don’t forget to keep an eye out for new music from them as well and will hopefully make an appearance during the show.
