Where/When: Doug Fir Lounge February 14th
For Fans of: Gallant, Xavier Omar, dvsn, Jorja Smith
Are you looking for something to do on the holiday of love and chocolate? Need a place to take your boo that will prove you’re dope and aren’t into just gifting stuffed animals/roses and calling it good? Are you single and wanting a night out, or interested in falling in love with a stranger?
Regardless of what you might be looking for on February 14th, I can tell you that you will find love and you’ll find it in a voice. With a sound that’s soft and smooth while hearty at the same time, R.LUM.R (R Lamar) is making wavelengths in the RnB community. Rolling Stone featured him in “10 Artists You Need To Know” and boasted about his success with Spotify who has featured him on Playlists like The Newness repping all the “freshest” Rnb jams.
His single “Frustrated” has reached over 30 million streams, and it’s clear why. In a current music phase led by the likes of genres deeply rooted in electronic, R.LUM.R is a breath of fresh air reaching out of the confines of beats and playing more fully with the strengths of his human voice. It’s real, personal, and relatable. His EP AFTERIMAGE was released in August and features 6 powerhouse songs, my personal favorite being “Love Less”, which you could dance to and cry to at the same time.
Tickets start at only 10 dollars, and in a venue that’s so intimate, this feels like the perfect place to dig deeper into the music of R.LUM.R— to be carried into a sound that’s breaking ground and showing people there’s so much you can do with a voice.
