Eidola a five-piece experimental post-hardcore band from Salt Lake City, UT stopped by Portland’s Analog Theater on their tour with Capsize, Hail the Sun and Limbs earlier this evening. It was an all ages event brought to you by kingbanana presents.
Touring in support of their latest album, To Speak, To Listen, out of the five bands (the first being a Portland local band) Eidola was the third to perform. Even though they were opening for Hail the Sun who would close out the show at the end of the night, they definitely felt like headliner status. The post-hardcore band got right into the heavy music, playing songs from their newest album and also from their sophomore album Degeneraterra as well, stirring up a mosh pit in the process. Their 30-minute set was also filled with the well received energetic clean vocals of Andrew Wells who kept the intimate crowd engaged and singing along.
In between songs the lead vocalist Andrew would mention that he appreciate how the crowd “supported touring bands” and even had them cheer for the bands playing after them Capsize and Hail the Sun respectively. Even though they were only performing for 30 minutes to play new music from their new album they still took the time to remain humble, that’s something I appreciate about them.
