FFO: Four Year Strong, Neck Deep, The Wonder Years, The Story So Far
Seaway opened for headliners Four Year Strong at Portland’s Hawthorne Theatre on the Rise or Die Trying Tour earlier this week. This was an all ages event brought to you by Mike Thrasher Presents.
The show started with opening artists Life Lessons, Grayscale and Like Pacific each coming with their own beautiful melodies and hardcore guitar riffs. Each artist had more crowd surfers and mosh pit attendees than the last.
When the clock struck 8:35 the Canadian legends themselves, Seaway came on stage and immediately performed new music from their album Vacation. For a band that has no screaming vocals in their music they managed to have a bigger mosh pit and more crowd surfers than any of the opening acts which all had screaming vocals and metal bass drops.
The vibes the band brought out with their music and when they were speaking to the audience was unbeatable, their presence and their music was a lot of fun for the audience and the bandmates themselves. The Hawthorne Theater was screaming with excitement when they performed arguably their most famous single to date, “Apartment” towards the end of their set. Everyone towards the front was singing every word. Since this venue has no barricade and stage diving is allowed, it was a very rowdy, yet intimate show.
Seaway was the final opening band before headliners Four Year Strong came out to close the show.
