Tribute to ska & reggae legend Desmond Dekker.

I was getting ready for my show today, getting ready to play my usual mix of ska & rocksteady music from the 50's-present, when I learned of the death of Desmond "The King of Ska" Dekker at his home in England. My old band had the honor of opening for Mr. Dekker some years ago, and it was a privelege I will never forget. For a ska music fan, it was akin to a rock band getting to open for The Rolling Stones. I hope any ska fans who run across this blog will check out my tribute show to Mr. Dekker on podcast. Just go to Sunday nights and look for "Rude Boy's Revenge & Coffee Hour" on May 28, 2006. I don't pretend to be the world's authority on Desmond Dekker, but there's no denying the joy his music has given this ska DJ.
