| Educational Value | The educational value for this position is .80. This position provides significant learning and growth opportunities in a co- curricular context that will expose the Assistant Music Director to challenges in leadership development and team-building on campus and in the community. Through guidance and instruction received from the Student Development and Faculty Advisors, the Assistant Music Director will learn skills in organization, time management, program development, communication, conflict resolution and critical thinking. The Assistant Music Director will also learn skills and gain knowledge in FCC rules and regulations, record company relations, and networking with professionals in the music industry and in the college radio environment. |
| Expectation of Time | The level of expected time for this position is 1.0, which averages 16-20 hours per week. The position works irregular and inconsistent hours that will be determined by the needs of the various constituencies served. A minimum of 6-8 regularly scheduled office hours is expected and will be served at the discretion of the Music Director and Assistant Music Director. Satisfactory performance of this position will be judged according to the extent to which the duties and responsibilities outlined below are fulfilled, regardless of the number of hours actually worked. |

| Duties and Responsibilities |
* The management of the music library. * Maintaining security features of KPSU library, such as ordering cabinets and locks as needed. * Maintaining frequent contact with over 200 record labels and distributors across the United States in order for KPSU to receive free materials (CDs, Records, Tapes, Stickers, tee-shirts) for air play and also as give away materials for station promotion and development. * Keeping track of every music recording as follows: KPSU must be written on the CD / tape / vinyl and also the cover, the material is numbered and placed in our database that keeps an alphabetized listing of everything we have in the studio, mark all songs that are not playable for air (report from team members) the material is placed in the studio for DJs to use, within two weeks. * Coordinating volunteers to preview new material and censor any material not suitable for air play. * Keeping in contact with local venues that give away tickets over the air and makes sure all paper work is correctly completed. * Assisting Development Director acquire trade-out products from music stores. * Soliciting materials from music companies to be used as premiums during annual pledge drive. * Keeping KPSU members aware of opportunities to conduct interviews, invite national guests, and improve the broadcast of KPSU. * Attending weekly staff meetings. * Meeting every week with Music Director to report progress of goals. * Attending annual CMJ conference and prepare report and presentation of experience. |
