| Educational Value | The educational value for this position is .80. This position provides significant learning and growth opportunities in a co- curricular context that will expose the Promotion Director to challenges in leadership development and team-building on campus and in the community. Through guidance and instruction received from the Student Development and Faculty Advisors, the Promotion Director will learn skills in budgeting, organization, time management, program development, communication, conflict resolution and critical thinking. The Promotion Director will also learn skills and gain knowledge in FCC rules and regulations, interpersonal skills, volunteer management and networking with professionals in the college radio environment. |
| Expectation of Time | The level of expected time for this position is 1.0, which averages 16-20 hours per week. The position works irregular and inconsistent hours that will be determined by the needs of the various constituencies served. A minimum of five regularly scheduled office hours is expected and will be served at the discretion of the Promotion Director. Satisfactory performance of this position will be judged according to the extent to which the duties and responsibilities outlined below are fulfilled, regardless of the number of hours actually worked. |

| Duties and Responsibilities |
* Directs volunteers wishing to promote and market the station. * Coordinates all new projects to promote KPSU throughout the PSU campus and the community and to recruit new students into KPSU. * Oversees the concert/show planning. * Responsible for maintaining up-to-date press packs. * Oversees volunteers working on KPSU web pages. * Chairs a weekly Promotion meeting for all interested volunteers. * Coordinates the production of all promotion materials which include: tee-shirts, bumper stickers, banners, print and cable TV ads. * Coordinates the selling and distributing of KPSU products. * Handle outgoing press releases and media contacts. * Direct mailing of station information. * Coordinates the production of a sixteen page newsprint KPSU Program Guide. * Coordinates the distribution of the Program Guide to over 200 locations in the Portland area. * Oversee the Show Committee in organizing concerts both on and off campus. * Maintain a media contact database. * Attend weekly staff meeting. * Meet every other week with the Station Manager to report all promotional and recruitment activities. * Plan strategies to recruit more student involvement, such as holding open houses and putting general meeting schedule in Vanguard calendar of events. * Coordinate co-sponsorship activities with other student groups and outside organizations. * Hold tables outside in park blocks during fall, spring, and summer term. * Organize Student Organization glass case once per term. * Represent KPSU at PSU New Student Orientation, Party in the Park, Earth Day, Art in Spring and Preview Day. * Collect list of names of students interested in becoming announcers to give to the Volunteer/Training Director. * Work with development director to promote annual pledge drive both on and off campus. |
