| Educational Value | The educational value for this position is .40. This position provides significant learning and growth opportunities in a co-curricular context that will expose the Volunteer Director to challenges in leadership development and team-building on campus and in the community. Through guidance and instruction received from the Student Development and Faculty Advisors, the Volunteer Director will learn skills in organization, time management, program development, communication, conflict resolution and critical thinking. The Volunteer Director will also learn skills and gain knowledge in FCC rules and regulations, interpersonal skills, volunteer management and networking with professionals in the college radio environment. |
| Expectation of Time | The level of expected time for this position is .80, which averages 10-15 hours per week. The position works irregular and inconsistent hours that will be determined by the needs of the various constituencies served. A minimum of 8 regularly scheduled office hours is expected and will be served at the discretion of the Volunteer Director. Satisfactory performance of this position will be judged according to the extent to which the duties and responsibilities outlined below are fulfilled, regardless of the number of hours actually worked. |
| Level of Responsibility | This position will carry a .40 level of responsibility. The position impacts a large number of students at Portland State University. The accountability is very high. Because of the highly public nature of the radio station, the consequences of weak performance are great for students and the community who participate in this program. |

| Duties and Responsibilities |
* Attendance at weekly staff meetings. * Update web database for KPSU members. * Track volunteer hours. * Inform KPSU members of volunteer opportunities. * Coordinate with teams to find projects that need to be accomplished. * Meet every week with Station Manager to report progress. * Help to create good communication networks between the KPSU Staff and the general volunteer population. * Establish outreach opportunities within the PSU community for new volunteer candidates. * Schedule an orientation session at least once a term. * Assign senior announcers with new members, apprentices. * Track progress of new members once every two weeks. * Administer and grade KPSU test at end of training. * Confirm that all members have met requirements to become contracted. * Assist Program Director with scheduling qualified new announcers for contracting. * Maintain accurate documents and records to insure consistency in the training program and to guarantee well qualified professional announcers on KPSU. * Schedule KPSU General Meetings every month for the first Wednesday at 6pm, and the first Sunday at 3pm. * Posts dates/times/locations for KPSU Monthly General Meetings online, around the station, and to the KPSU-DJ listserv at least one month in advance. * Give strikes to announcers who have unexcused absences from KPSU General Meetings. * Give strikes to announcers who have not completed ten volunteer hours per term. |
