Static + Distance
I’m joined by KPSU’s own Serg Lopez (of ZigZag Vinyl) as we select some of our favorite gloomy day records.
Special guest host Chris Sutton/hell books joins me to discuss our favorite Marvin Gaye albums: Here, My Dear and What’s Going On. A solid hour of Marvin talk and jams.
Some new additions to my collection along with some old favorites. Jams range from rainy day blues to cabin fever freakouts and the mix proceeds in that order.
I’ve pulled out a handful of my “winter records” to create mix of songs to suit this dreary weather. Sorry they’re mostly all by dudes. A misplaced 45 adapter kept me from digging into the 7 inches I brought to the station. Enjoy anyhow.
Zach Birdwell is back trading off records with me. Lots of weird, groovy tunes and obviously more Eden Ahbez. If you dig this, then you’ll probably also enjoy our podcast Cold Discovery.
Haunting folk gems, gloomy pop lullabies and slow burning soul. Lots of stuff in between, naturally. There were some weird ground issues with the KPSU turntables, so apologies in advance.
This is how I make Elissa listen to music.
An end of the year vinyl mix consisting of songs to help you wind down and kick back. Static + Distance will return in January.
Another all-vinyl edition of Static + Distance. Downbeat, rainy tunes for this dreary November day. Unfortunately, there was a ground issue, so you’ll notice a buzz on a couple tracks.
