Stealing the Covers: Vol 2 -not a complete dumpster fire
Written by Agent 47 on June 17, 2015
Volume 2 of my covers to originals comparison show. Switched it up a little bit this time, played cover first, then original. Figured out a minute or so into the second track played that my mind wasn’t playing tricks on me this morning. The do-over show of Steve Albini was playing it’s tracks down in pitch, things were sounding lower and deeper. Sometimes I can wear idiocy like tailored clothing.
So this didn’t turn out as a complete dumpster fire, like not knowing the show wasn’t even streaming <ahem>, more like a small kitchen disaster. That feeling when you put a pastry in a toaster overn and leave to finish getting ready, only to run back to the kitchen with the shrill aural attack of the smoke alarm as your life’s film score of the moment. You burst into the kitchen to see a smoldering fire box. Shaking your fists at the sky you scream, “YOU HAD ONE JOB TOASTER!”
At any rate, it was a fun look at some takes on a few classic rock tracks. I mean even the Smiths can be considered “classic” now. Their eponymous debut being 31 years old. Ouch, it hurt just typing that.
Regarding the show, it is so hard to pick tracks for some of these shows. For this playlist, I agonized for probably a good 45 minutes over which War Pigs cover to use. There are simply SO MANY, and a lot of them are great covers. I was very pleased with my choice however, when it came up it supplied the duration needed for a quick break to the facilities.
