VÉRITÉ // FFO: LANY, XYLØ, Transviolet, Oh Wonder

After the release of her sophomore album The Valley, Betty Who set out on tour and brought on VÉRITÉ as her opener. On April 28 they both brought an incredible show to Portland’s Wonder Ballroom.

After releasing three EPs (2014’s Echo, 2015’s Sentiment, and 2016’s Living) VÉRITÉ will be releasing her debut album somewhere in between on June 23. The album consists of 13 tracks, all new material not previously released on her EPs, and features her two singles “Phase Me Out” and “When You’re Gone.”

For fans new and old to VÉRITÉ, she created a balanced setlist that showcased music from her previous and future releases, as well as a cover. Her set opened with her latest single for her upcoming album, “Phase Me Out,” an unreleased “Saint,” tracks off all three EPs, her cover of The 1975’s “Somebody Else,” and ending with her lead single “Phase Me Out.” It was a wonderful opening set for Betty Who, and she chose the best person to tour with. VÉRITÉ’s confidence and excitement while performing radiates through her performance, and is contagious. It’s difficult as an opener to captivate and entertain a crowd that isn’t yours, but VÉRITÉ was able to do that with this audience without faltering. During her 45 minute set the audience danced along throughout the set of the unknown artist they were watching, some members of the audience knew of her music and sang along (or at the very least to her cover of The 1975), and many people in the crowd called out and yelled at VÉRITÉ saying things like “I love your music” and “You’re beautiful.” VÉRITÉ responded back “If I keep standing here silently will you just continue to yell compliments at me?” with a beaming smile on her face. It was obvious Portland loved her that night, so near the end of her set she added “This is only my third time in Portland, but thank you for welcoming me here and I’m so happy to announce I will be back later this year.”

Keep an eye out for more tour dates later this year for VÉRITÉ, and make sure you check out her debut album on June 23. In the meantime, find more dates for VÉRITÉ and Betty Who’s tour on VÉRITÉ’s website, and follow her on twitter, instagram, and facebook.
