Album Review: Gopi Dust State of Mind

This group is living in Japan and I want to thank them profusely for sending their CD to me – jaya! I love the sound of the lead singer Jagadeesh’s voice, it is captivating…almost haunting. From the first time I played this I found myself singing along. I appreciate the contrast between the dark industrial sounds of the music with the light feeling of the mantras; it is as though I am being rescued from my Kali yuga existence (much needed indeed). The minimalist style of the vocals and the repetition is quite soothing. My favorite track is Bolo, which I find myself singing quite a bit, in fact I woke up this morning singing it and I have only listened to this CD 2-3 times over the last month so I thought that I better stop slacking and write a review because it is pretty good! So Jagadeesh, if you have plans to come stateside please include a trip to Portland.
