Yo. Me, DJ Kez, and Dundiggy recently celebrated the 1 year anniversary of our monthly dance party, Rockbox at Holocene. I decided to record the set that I played that night and tighten up a few things and play it on the radio.
If you are at all familiar with the Liquid Beat show you will notice that this show is a bit of a deviation from the normal routine of independent Hip-Hop and R&B. However, my hope is that you will find this show enjoyable in some shape or form anyway. Me and the homie Kez were talking after the party that night about what it means to be a Hip-Hop DJ. We both came to the conclusion that because we both consider ourselves as people who dedicate our lives to the preservation and cultivation of Hip-Hop culture, that even when we play, and enjoy some real left music, that we are still most definitely representing. Matter of fact, by being true to our own tastes and interests, regardless of how much they might stray from the orthodox boom-bap, we are in many ways attempting to live up to those ideals of originality and being real. Enough apologizing for some music I enjoy.
If you are at all familiar with Rockbox, represented on this show are some of my favorite songs and mixes from the night. Thanks to all my Rockbox supporters. I know I speak for Kez and Dig when I say we genuinely appreciate all the love that has come our way and we are humbled by the response to us 3 regular dudes. Thank you for a great year.
