| KPSU is a Student Fee funded organization, whose mission is to provide the Portland community with a high quality college radio source unlike any other available. KPSU strives to become nationally recognized as the leader in student managed college radio. The four corner stones of KPSU are student development, diverse listener satisfaction, community involvement, and student team management. This position is open to any currently enrolled Portland State University student carrying at least eight undergraduate or six graduate credits per term. | |
| Educational Value | The educational value for this position is .80. This position provides significant learning and growth opportunities in a co- curricular context that will expose the Development Coordinator to challenges in leadership development and team- building on campus and in the community. Through guidance and instruction received from the Student Development and Faculty Advisors, the Development Coordinator will learn skills in budgeting, organization, time management, program development, communication, conflict resolution and critical thinking. The Development Coordinator will also learn skills and gain knowledge in FCC rules and regulations, interpersonal skills, development and fund-raising techniques, grant writing, and networking with professionals in the college radio and development fields. |
| Expectation of Time | The level of expected time for this position is 1.0, which averages 16-20 hours per week. The position works irregular and inconsistent hours that will be determined by the needs of the various constituencies served. A minimum of five regularly scheduled office hours is expected and will be served at the discretion of the Development Coordinator. Satisfactory performance of this position will be judged according to the extent to which the duties and responsibilities outlined below are fulfilled, regardless of the number of hours actually worked. |
| Level of Responsibility | This position will carry a .80 level of responsibility. The position impacts a large number of students at Portland State University. The accountability is very high. Because of the highly public nature of the radio station, the consequences of weak performance are great for students and the community who participate in this program. |

| Duties and Responsibilities |
* Attendance at weekly staff meetings. * Assists in the development of the Student Fee budget in consultation with KPSU community and student members. * Collaborates with other student organizations and campus entities. * Responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing all fund-raising activities of the radio station within the limitations and context of the University environment. * Recruits and trains a strong, dedicated group of volunteers to serve on the Development Team. * Maintains the Development Team handbook. * Oversees all underwriting sales activities, including sales training, tracking of accounts, communicating with Programming Team Coordinator to ensure timely and accurate scheduling and airing of underwriting spots. * Oversee all program guide advertising sales. * Oversee all grant writing activities, including the working with the PSU Development Office, identification of sources and the timely and accurate submission of application. * Track personal services contracts, underwriting contracts and sales representative contracts. * Develop rate sheets, information cards, and contracts as needed. * Track trade-out values to ensure contract fulfillment. * Track community member progress on underwriting sales. * Approve underwriting copy. * Develop a listener membership program for the station. |
