"Doss, along with Jeff Mangum and Will Cullen Hart launched the Olivia Tremor Control in 1988 in Louisiana. Eventually, they moved to Athens, Georgia, and Mangum split with the band to pursue his work in Neutral Milk Hotel. The Olivia Tremor Control went on to release two widely loved full-length albums in the 1990s: 1996's Music From the Unrealized Film Script, Dusk at Cubist Castle and 1999's Black Foliage: Animation Music Volume One. Following Black Foliage, Doss turned his attention to the Sunshine Fix.
Doss also helped launch Elephant 6, a collective of like-minded indie psych-pop revivalist acts that included the Apples in Stereo, Neutral Milk Hotel, Of Montreal, Elf Power, and more."
The Olivia Tremor Control recently played at the 2012 Pitchfork Music Festival and were planning on releasing a new album later this year.
You can check out their Pitchfork performance below, as well as the single that was to be on the new album.
RIP Bill Doss, you were an inspiration and a fantastic artist - you will not be forgotten.
