The Mean Glean

ambient, idm, breakbeat, chiptune, downtempo, early electronica, language?

--------------------------------------------------------------------
The Mean Glean is a compilation of all the electronic music I've found and an hour long average sample of tracks that sound good to me. The history is important so the beginning of each show is reserved for showcasing a pioneer in early electronica and their contribution to music in general.

Music should be available for those who want to listen, without restricting access to new music by income bracket. Internet radio has helped with this but should not be seen as a substitute to AM/FM radio.

This show has achieved the first goal set for it since I started last month which was to broadcast an AM signal. This allows anyone who hasn't bought a new piece of technology since 1926 to listen to this show. Even though it's outdated technology, AM signal receiving is still widespread. Of course many people simply don't listen to AM.

The next goal is to broadcast on an FM signal which will increase the quality of the content and reach a larger audience. XM is not a goal as this is not free. Expansion or syndication is not a goal because it is not sustainable and the idea will be lost in favor of an institution. What was the idea?

Show triumphant!

My second show gave me a little breathing room to have fun. I got my promo out in the air, lots of unconventional downtempo tracks and only two mistakes. I may get the hang of this yet.

addendum

On closer inspection, I really need to watch the output volume next time. There was entirely too much fuzz wrapping around the bassier moments.

Where's the Saturday Show

I guest hosted the Brent Show on Saturday October 11th and while you can see the playlist here, the mp3 is elsewhere.
Here is where that is. http://archive.kpsu.org/node/16666.
Mostly Bollywod dance tracks with a couple of repeated themes. I wanted two tracks from Bluffmaster; check. I wanted two tracks from the Darjeeling Limited to begin and end with; check. I wanted a couple of slower tracks for a wind-down and interlude; check. And I wanted that great hockey song smack in the middle; all things accounted for. I did have a request to put one of my own compositions as part of the show but I'm not quite ready for that yet.

Moving Forward

The phrase to rule the world will be exposed for halloween! I interviewed three people so far on this phrase and will broadcast the first one on Friday.

I MOVED!

This show is now on Thursday nights 8-9pm and can be heard for the first time beyond the confines of PSUs FM signal to an entire city of AM. One thousand four hundred and fifty AMs to be imprecise.

November is new, the new month after the old 8th, the 9th month before the new 11th and time to spread the signal. After the last day of October had me moving forward, this month is going to be a re lease of tracks I like.

What will I play for my first night show. Massive confusion. That's the hint. Everything made new after midterms, new political figures elected, new cold fronts moving in, and a new permissive attitude towards occasional voxing just for november.
