Mixed Signals

Hey there, listeners. New week, new playlist. In between my bantering and other such nonsense, here are the names which made it onto tonight’s episode of The Muse In Music:

Sharon Van EttenFacebook // Website
Her new EP, I Don’t Want to Let You Down, is currently available through Jagjaguwar.

The Julie RuinFacebook // Website
How am I just now discovering Riot Grrrl Kathleen Hanna‘s most recent project? I don’t know, but I’m knee deep in obsession.

Diet CigBandcamp // Facebook
Their Sleep Talk/Dinner Date 7″ is a Father/Daughter and Art Is Hard co-release, limited to 1000 copies on white frosted clear vinyl and officially released September 18th.  Catch them play at Bunk Bar on September 2nd.

Screaming Females – Bandcamp // Facebook // Website

SPORTS – Bandcamp // Facebook
Their sophomore album, All of Something, is set to release October 30 on Father/Daughter Records.

Pearl CharlesSoundcloud // Facebook // Website
Miss Pearl’s forthcoming self-titled EP drops in cassette format on July 28th through one of my favorite labels, Burger Records.

ClovesFacebook // Website
This Melbourne-based artist recently saw her most recent single “Don’t You Wait” premier on ID Magazine’s website…which is how I kind of came across it. Simply beautiful. She’s currently working with Justin Parker, who’s done work with Lana Del Ray and Sia, in Los Angeles for new material that will be released on vinyl through Duly Noted sometime in late August. Fingers crossed, you guys.

Lower Dens – Facebook // Website
Their latest album, Escape From Evil, is currently available on Ribbon Music. They’ll be playing Mississippi Studios with Young Ejecta next week on the 24th. Catch you there?

La Luz – Bandcamp // Facebook // Website
The Seattle quartet’s sophomore album, Weirdo Shrine, is set to drop August 7th (SO SOON!) on Hardly Art.

Eskimeaux – Bandcamp // Facebook
I’ve featured her once before and will undoubtedly do so time and time again. Any who, I’m just gonna copy&paste what I wrote before: Eskimeaux is the solo project of The Epoch‘s Gabrielle Smith. Her second album, O.K., was recently released on Double Double Whammy.

Sarah Bethe Nelson – Soundcloud // Facebook
Let’s get one thing out in the open: San Francisco artist Sarah Bethe Nelson is responsible for one my favorite albums/discoveries this year. Hands down. She’s got a subtle Cat Power-esque edge to her that I’ve been really digging as of late. She’ll be hitting up Mississippi Studios this August. She might even stop by to do a little in-studio performance on The Muse In Music, so keep those eyes peeled.

Annnnd that’s a wrap! I’m headed to the Tacocat show at Mississippi Studios tonight for some good hangs. In the meantime, I sincerely hope that you enjoyed the ride this week. Catch y’all in the flipside…or something.
