Three Country merger

Though not widely proclaimed (as far as I know), there exists a strategy whereby what has happened in Europe vis a vis the Common Market to European Economic Community is on the drawing boards to create the USNA (United States of North America. One might want to run the term above or SPP or merger of United States, Canada and Mexico in their favorite search engine.

Whateverworks programming for 8-12-06

Due to the fact that today's program may end a 30 month run (give or take a week) and the fact that I am celebrating 38 years as a Believer in Yeshua Ha Maschiach (Jesus the Christ) today's broadcast honors those who have had an empact in my life as a Christian.

Possible final shows and review

For going on 3 years, I have been associated with KPSU, and it has been rewarding. No, I'm not saying good-bye, at least not yet. However, due to some possible work assignments, I may have to bid adeiu to my Saturday broadcasts. Additionally, I may pursue other avenues to play music in some forum.

Over the years, I have endeavored to play a seriously eclectic mix from a braod span of musical repertoire. We have played classical, country, Christrian, Jewish, Messianic, Rock (both old and new). We have saluted the Tony, Oscar and Emmy awards, not to mention the Golden Globes. We have also played music appropriate to various national holidays, especially Our Nation's Independence Day, Memorial and Veteran's Day. I have honored the memories of my father and have celebrated my childrens'(adults that they are) birthdays. We have paid respect to Jerry Garcia, George Harrison and John Lennon and have played extensively from the repertoire of the Beatles and their post-Beatle recordings.

Israel-Lebanon-Arab violence

It ought to be noted (if not by me, then whom?), that this current period of intense violence comes during a time of mourning (beginning this past Thursday) which culminates in August and commemorates the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem. Whateverworks will feature Israeli, Messianic and Christian music during it's hour. As possible we may feature some commentary about the significance of the timing of this violence with respect to what is known as "end times" prophecy.

Most people realize that there has always been a significant amount of violence (and will be) in the Middle-East. We can simplify the concept of this endless scenario by thinking of sibling rivalry. This is not an over simlification, as each "brother" (of Semitic origin) believes in their "entitlement" to a single piece of very significant real estate. Neither brother, and the rest of the world is really powerless to intervene (think of neighborhood kids involved in sibling rivalry) because the rest of the world doesn't share certain commonalities with the warring parties. For some in-depth insight to the complexities, read "The Haj" by Leon Uris.

Birthday celebration + CEEE

Well my second born is another year older as of 10:17 this a.m. and as has been my practice, I will pay tribute to her. Additionally my only granddaughter is a whole year old, and I'll find music to balance out my broadcasts. Due to circumstances beyond my control, there are sadly no pictures with which to develop an internet site for Ella Mae. Someday, maybe!. We live in hope.

This brings me to a second thought, and ties in with something that has been a thrust of mine for some time under a developing entity which I call "PEACEWORKS". We live in an environment, space, world, era where circumstances are growing ever more hostile and disingenuine. Yet each of us lives at the expense of another. Each individual, because they exist is of value. Therefore ought we not Celebrate Everyone Everyday Everywhere? More on this in the future.

"Neither Rain nor Snow . . ."

The postmens motto is worthy of our annual Rose Festival as well. How well I recall the scene 50 years ago, my parent(s) standing across from the Fred Meyer store on 5th Avenue, the sound of the bass drums made me cry. In those years we had the "Merrykhana" parade on Saturday nights, featuring the Portland Rainmakers, one of which would drive a motorized bathtub. All the schools had their bands in the parade, and my final year in school saw a "princess" from the largest school in the state riding on (in) a float entered by the local "booster" club. How wonderful all that was then, and can be for those who are interested in all that Portland has to offer rain or shine.

Whateverworks future programming

My original show will differentiate itself from my Saturday Soft Lite programming and provide the diversity of eclectic programming with which we began nearly two-and-a-half years ago.

Saturday Soft Lite and the Future

We will go back in time in the future, ultimate destination the 30's and 20's. We will look at sixities, fifties and forties on the way as we go. Websites for each decade will be created as we go.
The sixties gave us much in the way of music differentiation, but stood on foundations laid in prior decades. Each era is unique and is to be appreciated for their contribution to our culture.
